Ingredients

  • Mackerel 0.5 kg
  • Maida Flour 0.25 cup
  • Chili Powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
  • Onion 0.25 kg
  • Green Chilies 3 nos
  • Water 1 cup
  • Garlic 4 cloves
  • Cardamom 2 nos
  • Coriander Leaves 2 tbsp
  • Curry Leaves 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Ghee 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Marinate the mackerel with chili powder, turmeric, and salt. Fry until fully cooked and set aside.
  2. Finely chop the onions and crush the garlic cloves for the masala.
  3. Sauté the chopped onions and crushed garlic until golden brown and fragrant.
  4. Add coriander leaves, curry leaves, fried fish, cardamom powder, and salt to the sautéed mixture. Mix well to create the flavorful masala filling.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together maida flour, water, and salt to make a smooth batter. Cook thin pancakes (palada) on a flat pan until lightly golden.
  6. Place a portion of the masala filling inside two paladas and carefully seal the edges together to form the pathiri.
  7. Heat ghee in a pan and shallow fry the pathiris on both sides until golden brown and crispy. Serve hot!
